Tumi Magakwa’s career started in 2002 while pursuing her accounting studies and working as a casual worker at a marketing company based in Johannesburg. Her manager at the time spotted her talent and leadership skills an d encouraged her to recruit a team of people to deploy branding materials at corporate events. Her team, ‘Tumi’s guys’, had a reputation for service excellence that motivated her to register a company providing branding logistics services. The same year saw the birth of Moshomo Bashumi Consultants which provides branding and warehouse logistics from their warehouse based in Booysens, Johannesburg.
The company experienced its fair share of challenges, owing to the economic climate, but this did not deter the CEO’ s vision of growing her business. She remained focused and engaged a mentor who helped to accelerate her business acumen, which built her confidence and resulted in securing contracts with companies in the energy, brewing and communication sectors. Their client base is
local and international. One of their flagship projects is providing branding logistics or the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists.
Moshomo believes corporate social investment is extremely important and has adopted Yeshua Anointed Crèche, a safehouse supporting poor and traumatised children and families.
Magakwa’s life motto is not to incur unnecessary debt – a motto she app lies in her business.
Her advice for aspiring business people is to do what you believe in and what you are passionate about. You need to have a vision – don’t let obstacles stop you from achieving your goal.
